The Quiet Man
The Quiet Man movie with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara is one of my favorites of all time, a primary reason for voyaging to Ireland and Galway. Below are photos of the movie locations near Cong and Connemara.

Now, I'll begin at the beginnin'. A fine soft day in the spring it was when the train pulled into Castletown ….

The filming of a special program commemorating the 50th anniversary of the making of The Quiet Man at Ballyglunin Station which was re-named Castletown for the film. The train was restored by volunteers and again operated from 1988 until 1993. The locomotive is now in storage at Tuam Station. Unfortunately the three coaches have been vandalized.

Truly the end --- Two months later the boat sank in the Mediterranean during a violent storm and I lost everything. These photos had been loaded to the web in England a few weeks after leaving Galway. Thousands of photos went to the bottom of the sea. There will be no more.
